Welcome To The SASSF Website

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The Board of Directors were very pleased to see an increase in members who are turning up for the monthly meetings and we also had the honor of two ladies, Brenda Cannotilla and Norma Wills, who applied for membership to our Society at the meeting. Welcome and congratulations.

The venue for the 2010 Festival and Games has yet to be determined and I think that we will have answer for the membership at our July 19th meeting. Nigel MacDonald read out the changes in the SASSF By-Laws, which he and his committee suggested be adopted by the membership. The final draft will be read out in July after which they will be sent out to the membership for approval. Our thanks go to Nigel, Derick Willis and Art Campbell for their hard work on this project.

Also discussed were the results of the Scholarship Committee, Nan Buchanan, Maureen McWilliam and Anita Billig. Their  decisions of one Academic Scholarship of $1,000.00, two Piping Scholarships of $250.00 each, and one Drumming Scholarship of $250.00 along with a donation of $700.00 to hold a Highland Dancing workshop in our area was approved. Due to the time constraints forced upon us you will find the deadlines for each scholarship posted on this page. Unfortunately, these deadlines will be strictly adhered to enabling the committee to determine who the recipients will be.

To each of the Board of Directors I offer my sincere thanks for the support and understanding they give me and forgiving my errors along the way. I look forward to our next meeting in July and encourage the membership to attend, bring a friend and please bring a friend who may be encouraged to become a fellow member.

Yours Aye,

Peter Buchanan
