CHILDREN'S GAMES.
The Children’s Games, founded by Tom Smith, are a special part of
the festival with a chance for children to enjoy tug-of-war, sack
races, and other activities.
Children’s Games will take place throughout the day with a special
event, CHILDREN’S PASSPORT GAME. The children should pick up a
passport at the information booth. Participation by the children in
each of the special Highland events such as a small Caber Toss,
Stone Toss, and other events geared to their size and age. This will
require each child to pick up a release form at the same time they
acquire their Passport and have it signed by a parent or guardian,
and must present it before competing. Each child when taking part in
these events must be supervised by an adult. We will have an adult
at each station to help and see that it is done properly and safely,
and make sure that the child does not try to lift a weight too heavy
for their age and size. During the day the children should take
their Passport around to each Clan tent. At least one member of that
Clan should give a short talk about their family history then sign
or stamp the Passport Book. When the children have visited every
Clan, they take the Passport back to the information booth where
will receive a small prize. This will help the children learn about
the different families of Scotland along with providing them with a
sense of competition and fun.
